OpenFinz
OpenFinz is a free, open-source personal finance tracker. The purpose of the OpenFinz application is to help people record and understand their own money โ income, expenses, account balances, budgets, and spending insights โ without creating an OpenFinz account and without uploading financial data to OpenFinz servers by default.
What OpenFinz does
- Track daily income and expenses across bank accounts and cash
- Manage multi-currency balances and view combined net worth
- Set budgets and review activity and spending insights
- Run in any modern browser, or install as a Progressive Web App (PWA)
- Keep data local-first in the browser (IndexedDB)
- Export or import a JSON backup file anytime from Settings
Why OpenFinz may ask for Google account access
Core use of OpenFinz does not require Google sign-in. Optionally, in Settings, you can connect Google to manually back up and restore your local OpenFinz data to your own Google Drive App Data folder.
- OpenFinz only uses this access to create or update a backup file in the private Drive App Data space for OpenFinz.
- OpenFinz does not read your Gmail, contacts, calendar, photos, or other Drive files.
- The backup stays in your Google account. OpenFinz does not receive a copy on an OpenFinz backend.
- You can disconnect Google anytime and keep using OpenFinz with local storage and file export only.
